Yes we have no bananas. Prada S/S11 Woman

Josephine Backer, african icon from the 20’s, used to sang “Yes we have no bananas” dancing wild wearing a skirt made of bananas only created for the occasion by P. Seltenhammer; and this is the inspiration for the spring/summer 2011 collection by Miuccia Prada.
Colorful dresses full of energy, worn with fluo colors in a manga mood; squared shirts that reminds of the nurses uniforms, skirts long till the knees with flamenco style rouges, embroidered dresses with baroque monkeys and maxi stripes alternated with the classical French mariner.
The models bring the eccentricity to the catwalk, the energy and the colors that once again remind of Josephine, in every detail, from the dresses to the shirts with the bananas, to the big stripes that remind of the houses never- realized for Josephine by Adolf Loos, everything tasting so art decò.
The accessories are inspired by the latino mood, striped sombreros to wear like foulards, straw wedges looking like modern espadrillas with waved details reminding of the wavy hair of the 20’s and the curves of the new glasses, everything to wear like an uniform.
The maison amazes us with all its energy presenting us a new must for man and woman both, a laced up shoe in the classical church style with double sole , half espadrillas and half made of plastic, describing them like chic creepers, everything in the beach mood in different colors, for the ones who prefer a bit of masculine and british touch. If you feel like having a cold and fruity cocktail for this summer this mood will conquer you. Click on Read More to see the Fashion Show and more pics.
