Earlier, allkpop reported that the cast of KBS 2TV’s “Dream High” would be holding a special mini-concert on February 24th. Well the producers have some very exciting news for fans – “Dream High” will distribute free tickets for the event!

Considering how the OST concert for “Secret Garden” concluded with great success and profit, it’s unusual that the “Dream High” staff decided to proceed with a free concert.

Representative Yang Geun Hwan explained, “We have no thoughts on making money through a concert.” He explained that their goal is to return the love they’ve received from the viewers through this concert.

That’s not to say that they didn’t consider making a profit. Yang asserts that if they did go down that route, they would’ve used the profits garnered to buy instruments for students who are like the Kirin Arts High School students. Ultimately, however, the staff decided that free admission was the best way to go.

Starting February 10th, the producers of “Dream High” plan to distribute tickets through a lottery system after viewers register on their official website.

The ‘Dream High Concert’, which will be held at Goyang Aram Nuri Hall, will feature 2PM’s Taecyeon and Wooyoung, miss A’s Suzy, T-ara’s Eunjung, and IU. Naturally, the concert will also guest non-singer idols as well, like actor Kim Soohyun, producer/singer/actor J.Y. Park, and actor Uhm Ki Joon.

Producers are planning to film the concert and use the footage for the special broadcast on March 1st.

Cr. - allkpop

An OST track from KBS’s “Dream High” had some netizens accusing JYP Entertainment of plagiarism. The song in question, “Some Day“, was written by Park Jin Young and sung by teenage sensation, IU.

According to the complaints, “Some Day” reportedly carries a chorus similar to Ash’s song ‘To My Man’, which released back in October of 2005. Others are of the view that it’s not just the chorus that was similar, but the progression of the song as well. The difference, they point out, is that ‘Some Day’s beat was faster than ‘To My Man’s.

JYP Entertainment released their official statement to Star News on January 29th, which began: “When this controversy sprouted, we listened to ‘To My Man’ today. When we heard it, the chorus part did seem similar, but these chord progressions and melodies are frequently used in mainstream music.”

“There are many people who are associated to the song ‘To My Man’, and there are a lot of people who know the song as well. Therefore, it doesn’t make sense to intentionally plagiarize.”

JYPE also explained that they utilize a system of checks to prevent these kinds of accusations. “To be honest, there have been controversies like this before, so in our company we always have some inside lyricists and/or producers, as well as employees who listen to the song. Of course, the A&R department also check the music very ‘hard’ too. We even utilize smartphone music-search applications.”

Still, the company did express their regret about having such an issue arise. “Despite our efforts, we are regretful that this kind of situation happened. We hope that the producer of ‘To My Man’, Kim Shin Il, and the public will generously understand this.”

On the other hand, Kim Shin Il said in a phone call with Star News, “Actually, I haven’t listened to ‘Some Day’ yet. After I listen to it, I’ll reveal my thoughts (about the possibility of plagiarism).”

Kim Shin Il, a talented musician and soul singer, graduated from the Berklee College of Music and has produced various albums from singers like Lee Mun Se and Kim Jang Hoon.

Cr. - allkpop

Actor Kim Soo Hyun recently participated in a “Dream High” press conference with his fellow castmates, and he delivered an interview that left reporters feeling like this young star was wiser than his years.

Kim Soo Hyun began with his reflections on how the drama is faring in ratings. “I’m happy the ratings are going up, but the actors and the staff are not quite satisfied yet”. He added, “I would like to see the drama do well. We will show you a youth drama overflowing with passion and fighting spirit“.

Kim continued, “Until now, I’ve only acted, but singers have to act while singing and dancing on stage. I can feel them fill the screen with energy just from their performances alone. It was hard for me to bring myself up to par with my singer co-stars, but I think I will have learned a huge lesson by the end of this project”.

Reporters then turned to the topic of his rivalry with 2PM’s Taecyeon, who plays ‘Jin Gook’. “On screen, Taecyeon and I have an interesting tension through eye contact alone. So even when we’re not shooting, I tend to keep looking at him.” Then he jokingly added, “When I turn around, I want to see him again!”

Kim was then asked who his ideal girl was out of all of his idol co-stars. Replying with much wit, he answered “Suzy in the spring, Eun Jung in the summer, IU in the fall, and Taecyeon in the winter”.

On January 25th, the cast of “Dream High” attended a press conference for their show, which was held on the actual film set of the drama. During the interview, 2PM’s Wooyoung shared his thoughts on his debut as an actor.

Wooyoung began by talking about how he’s learning the new craft. “I’m still really nervous right now. When reviewing the monitor, I learn a lot from Taecyeon and Soohyun-hyung. I’m taking part in this drama with the stance of an actor and am truly learning a lot from those around me by ‘bothering’ them for tips (laughter).”

He continued, “I’m learning in a fun way, so I hope viewers look forward to my role as ‘Jason.’”

When asked to choose a scene he liked or disliked, Wooyoung replied,”My favorite scene was the karaoke scene [with IU].“

He continued, “A scene I didn’t particularly like was when I asked ‘Pil Sook’ whether she filed to drop out or not. I think I lacked confidence in that scene, especially since ‘Jason’ is a very confident and charming character overall. I felt like I froze because it was my first time, so those are aspects I will be working on.”

At the mention of his “Milky” love line with IU, he explained, “I’m genuinely thankful towards the viewers for giving their interest and support towards the ‘Pil Sook’ and ‘Jason’ love line. IU helps me greatly, as I feel that her character is great at accepting ‘Jason.’ I hope that their love line continues in a cute and beautiful manner in the future.”

Wooyoung concluded, “Despite the cold weather and her poor condition, she works hard, so I’m proud. Since my castmates are my friends and we’re all heading towards our dreams, there is some competition, but I’m able to work harder because of that. Even if we don’t receive great viewer ratings, I’d still like to thank everyone. I’ll be working harder with better effort.”
